Here is the Summertime Quilt, as if the title wasn't clear enough. There was so much I wanted to include for summer I found it hard to omit some images. I tried to capture what was dear to me; flip flops, morning glories (A story I will tell you about soon), flowers, summer fruits, BBQ's, flowers, honey bees and the 4th of July. I used Yo-Yo Yellow Card Stock for the background because it screams summer.
Below are some close ups of WHAT I DID:
For the title I used a piece Tempting Turquoise Card Stock and with Versa Mark I stamped the flip flops from the Just Beach Stamp Set. I covered the flip flops with White Embossing Powder and with a Heat Tool embossed the image. On a piece of Whisper White Card Stock I cut the word Summer using the Naturally Serif Decorative Strip and the Big Shot. I then mounted the letters on the Only Orange Card Stock strip. In the corner I placed an ice pop brad I had.
I stamped the Summer Soft, Morning Glory in Close to Cocoa Ink onto a piece of (3-3/4" x 4") Whisper White Card Stock, colored in the Morning Glory with Stampin' Pastels and carefully tore around the image. I adhered the image onto the (3-3/4" x 4") Bashful Blue Card Stock and added four eyelets, one in each corner.
For the next close up I stamped the flowers from the stamp set Upsy Daisy in Regal Rose Ink on the (3-1/2" x 2-1/2") Blush Blossom Card Stock. I adhered the Blush Blossom stamped Card Stock onto the (4' x 3") piece of Green Galore Card Stock, added a Certainly Celery Ribbon knot, two Photo Corners, a Green Galore Brad and a rhinestone .
I love the set, Just Buzzin' By so of course I had to incorporate it into the quilt. For this I used the new In-Color Melon Mambo Card Stock and Ink. On the (3-1/2" x 3") Melon Mambo Card Stock I stamped the flower from the Just Buzzin' By Stamp Set in Melon Mambo Ink and highlighted each flower with a Signo Gel Pen. On a (3-1/2" x 3") piece of Whisper White Card Stock I stamped the bee hive and bees from the Just Buzzin' By stamp set, colored in the images with Stampin' Pastels and Stampin' Up Write Markers and cut the images out. I used the Corner Rounder Punch on each corner, added a Whisper White Brads and put all the images together as shown below. I embellished the final piece with flowers and rhinestones. After all there would be no honey without flowers!
I tucked in other stamped images from the Tart & Tangy, A Flower for All Seasons and Only Ovals Stamp Sets. On the sunflowers from A Flower For All Seasons Stamp Set I added two small yellow pom-poms. The rest of the quilt I embellished with brads and an American flag, (not Stampin' Up).
Thanks for stopping by and if you haven't already signed up to get up-dates on when I post, please do so now.
Hugs and Stamps,
